Melissa Hoff provides results-oriented, strategic consulting to lawyers and law firms. By working closely with firm leadership to understand the firm’s goals and needs, she can develop programs for lawyers and practice groups that align with the firm’s objectives and enhance individual performance.
With over 20 years in the legal marketing industry, Melissa has significant in-house and consulting experience. Before founding MBH Strategies, she was a partner at the Zeughauser Group, a consultancy that specializes in marketing and business management for AmLaw 100 firms. Prior to that, she led the marketing effort at 120-lawyer Garvey Schubert Barer and served as a Director in the marketing department at 430-lawyer Preston Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates). She was also a member of the Cooley Godward marketing team. During her tenure at Garvey Schubert Barer, Melissa developed and implemented the firm’s branding and corporate identity campaign, which won first place in the Legal Marketing Association’s Your Honor Awards competition.
Melissa has broad-based experience developing marketing and business development programs for firms, practice groups and individuals; development of client retention and satisfaction programs; and visibility and branding initiatives. Her clients include National, AmLaw 100, mid-sized and boutique firms. Her breadth of law firm experience has shaped her ability to think creatively and to customize solutions for clients that not only drive the firm’s profitability, but align with its strategic vision and culture.
Melissa was a founding member of the Seattle Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association and served as Chapter President in 2002 and again in 2016. She was West Region Board President in 2019.
Melissa earned her B.A. from Boston University.
